The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge faced the perils of watching the London Marathon from behind the barriers just like the rest of us yesterday afternoon.

Prince William was sprayed in the face by a runner's errant bottle of water as he and Kate Middleton cheered on runners and handed out water from the front line of the race.

Kate appeared to have been just about spared a soaking, and her face as it happened says it all...

Besides #squirtgate, the royal couple, along with Prince Harry, received really warm and delighted receptions from the runners taking part, with some stopping to high-five, hug and kiss the pair.

The royals met with the volunteers and supporters of their charity campaign Heads Together, which was the charity of the Virgin Money London marathon this year.

I was able to meet the Duke and Duchess and Harry, and support the runners taking part for the charity Heads Together.

Prince Harry spoke to The Telegraph about his own mental health issues for the paper's podcast Mad World, during which he opened up about suppressing his grief for his late mother Princess Diana, and how William eventually encouraged him to seek professional help.

During the Marathon, one participant stopped to blow kisses at Kate, who looked a tiny bit embarrassed, while others appeared so overwhelmed and emotional, they stopped to shake their hands and embrace them.

William was very protective over Kate during the race. We managed to sneak a photo of the affectionate Duke with his arm around her. Check out his snazzy sneaks.

We also overheard Harry endearingly refer to his sister-in-law as Kat, before being completely adorable with an equally adorable baby by performing a little dance to entertain him. And everybody else in the world.
